Broad Bean – Aquadulce

Aquadulce is a highly reliable and hardy broad bean.

It thrives in well-drained, fertile soil, with plants reaching up to 100cm, yielding long, succulent, white-seeded beans in 22–23cm pods.

  • Hardiness: Known as the hardiest variety, it easily survives winter, providing harvests a month earlier than spring-sown types.
  • Planting: Sow in October–November for overwintering, or February–March for summer crops.
  • Habit: Grows to 100cm (39″) in height and 45cm (18″) in spread.
  • Harvest: Produces high yields of long, well-filled, and tender white beans.
  • Tips: Support with canes, protect from slugs/mice, and pinch out the tops to prevent blackfly.
